The main activities aim at providing IP services for VDiQ’s clients, including helping the clients to obtain patent rights, trademarks & design rights. VDiQ IP stands for Van Dijk Quality Patents & Trademarks (and designs, of course).
The foundation of the firm is built on a strong belief in the importance of both Quality and Passion when providing IP services to clients.
All clients are welcome for a non-obligatory introductory meeting with the founder. It goes without saying that VDiQ IP Services is also available for acting as agent before the Norwegian, Dutch and European patent authorities.
After graduating in Electronic Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology (NL), Steven started working as a Research Scientist for Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven (NL) in September 1997. In these years he worked in the IC Design sector and filed 24 invention disclosures of which 8 were selected and filed as patent applications. It was during these activities that Steven was exposed to intellectual property which really got his interest from the first invention.
After a little bit more than 6 years ((November 2003) Steven, and not surprisingly, made a career switch and joined Philips Intellectual Property & Standards in Eindhoven (NL) as a patent attorney trainee. There he qualified as a Dutch patent attorney and started his training to become a European patent attorney.
When Philips divested his semiconductors division in 2006, Steven was, placed in NXP Semiconductors in Eindhoven (NL). Soon thereafter, Steven decided to pursue his career further within the private practice sector and he joined DeltaPatents in Eindhoven (NL) in January 2007. There Steven finished his European qualification and became a European Patent Attorney.
Even though he liked working in private practice Steven started longing back to working in the industry and joined Mapper Lithography in Delft (NL) in September 2012. Steven really enjoyed working at the IP department in Mapper.
However, Steven then decided to jump into a bigger adventure and emigrated with his whole family to Norway in 2013 and joined Håmsø Patentbyrå in Stavanger. There Steven worked 7 years as a senior patent attorney and about almost 5 years as a partner. It was at the end of 2024 that Steven decided to pursue a dream that he has had since he was a little boy, and that is to start and lead his own law firm, VDiQ IP Services, based in Stavanger. VDiQ IP Services started in May 2025.
Steven founded this new firm on the core belief that quality is not only achievable, but of the utmost importance. To this end, Steven draws from many years of experience working as a patent attorney in/for both industry and private practice, which makes him a skilled advisor. This has been confirmed multiple times by feedback from Steven’s clients and by the acknowledgement in the various rankings that exist today.
